Getting smarter
I just have to brag on my boy. He is a little "behind" in the talking milestone, but now that he has started talking, he is learning so fast!
Having already mastered T, X, E, D, and 2, Trey can now name 3, 9, and the letter O as well. For the letter J, he can't say it, but when he sees it he says "jump". Similarly for M, he'll say "mama" or "moon". For the number 2, not only does Trey identify it, he seems to know what it means. Whenever he is carrying two of anything, he declares "doo" (two).
Trey also knows the color green. This most likely comes from his obsession with stoplights. He seems to know where the stoplights are on our most common routes, and about a mile before we get to them, he starts yelling "dop!" (stop). Then most of the time as soon as the light turns green, he yells "gee" (green) or "go".
The video snippets you see on the blog here are just a tiny sampling of maybe 100 more that we have. It's a guarantee that at least once per day Trey will ask to see his "moomies" (movies). He is enthralled with them - loves watching himself, and even more loves watching the clips Brandon took at basketball practice one day.
But Trey has even memorized his moomies. We'll be watching and he'll make a noise, then that same noise will show up in the video.
The kicker came in one short conversation last night, where we learned that Trey can both list associated objects and speak in a sentence. A little background - it is debatable that he said a two-word sentence a few weeks ago. But since he hasn't done that since, I have about convinced myself that I heard him wrong.
Anyway, Trey had his typical Tuesday night overnight and Wednesday at my parents' house this week. Some helpful information for you here is that Trey calls his Grammy (my mom) "Giga", his Pawpaw (my dad) "Pop Pop", and their dog Dudley "Duddy".
Mama: Trey, did you play with Dudley today?
Trey: Duddy...Pop Pop...Giga
At this, Brandon and I look at each other in surprise.
Trey: Giga go bye-bye.
At this, Brandon and I go into shock.
The little stinker has to have been holding out on us. I know this is probably not very exciting to anyone else, but every day I am a-mazed at my kid.
