Doing something wrong...or right??
So 2009 has been interesting thus far. I got sicker than I have been in a long time with this nasty sinus stuff - sick enough to go to the doctor, which I hate to do. Yuck. What a miserable feeling to not be able to breathe through your nose, can't sleep if you want to. It just completely knocked me off my feet for a few days, and I even lost my voice for a while there. Fun, fun. Praise the Lord that He seems to be protecting Brandon and Trey from the worst of it, and I am finally coming out of it.
I'll preface this next part by telling you my New Year's resolution for 2009, which was to spend money more wisely and save more this year. OK, here's what has happened in the last week or so.
- Brandon hit a deer with his new car. Damage estimated at $2000. Praise the Lord for insurance.
- My car is acting up, hesitating to start. Had the battery, starter, and alternator checked, all of which were fine. Who knows what's wrong with it or how long we can push our luck with it.
- Yesterday morning, our house filled up with soot, and it turned out that our furnace had blown out. We got Trey out of the house and called a repair man, who fixed us up for the bargain rate of $700.
- While cleaning up the soot, our water cut off, and we were without water for around 24 hours until the repair man for that came today. Turned out to not be a huge deal to fix.
- Overnight last night, the heat cut off. We messed with it a little this morning, only to have the furnace blow out again. Brandon cut everything off before the house could once more fill with soot. The repair men, bless their hearts, were here all day replacing parts and working hard. And compared to yesterday, they didn't charge us much. Must have felt sorry for us. :)
So. Interesting. Brandon asked me if we had done something wrong - did I forget to tithe?? And then a few others had asked me if we were doing something right. If so, Satan's hitting us right in the gut. It is a lot of money - all of this with Trey's surgery coming up later this month, and we're on new health insurance so we have a new deductible to meet - yay!!
But we are not worried about the money. We have been through tough times before and the Lord never fails to provide for us. Even through the strangest and most unexpected ways. We are healthy and happy, and praise the Lord. My resolution is still to save money. And by the grace of God, we will!
This is long enough, but for those of you yearning for a Trey update, he had his 18-month checkup this morning. He is growing perfectly, meeting pretty much all of his milestones, and he's skinny and tall for his age. I promise we will post more pictures soon.

Wow, don't you just love unexpected bills! God will provide; He knows your needs and all that extra $$ you are having to spend. So...how's that resolution doing?
