Playground hopping

While Brandon has been working school football games on Friday nights for the last several weeks, the boys and I have been mini-staycationing, discovering new-to-us local playgrounds. And when I say local, I mean within an hour of our house. Because round these parts, that is the accepted definition of local.

Our first experience came about much to my horror, as I became cornered into attending an office cookout with both boys, by myself. Yeah, it was an overwhelming victory that we managed to leave that place with a shred of my dignity still intact.

Because of this, though it was by far the best of the playgrounds we have toured so far, I unfortunately have no photos. Which is a bummer, because I hate to let go of the memory of Aden fearlessly sliding down a fireman's pole, Trey playing life-size Angry Birds, then later climbing to the top of a ten-foot rock wall by himself.

Our next stop was the playground at Trey's school. Fairly certain we broke the law by going after school hours, but we'll just play the ignorance card. Because we had a blast, very close to home.

The camera battery went dead maybe fifteen minutes in, evidence of my ongoing neglect of the camera. But not before this.

I am that mom, the one who poses her children uncomfortably and totally unnaturally, bribing and growling threats in order to get one good picture. So not ashamed. They'll appreciate it one day. Or maybe their wives will.

See in the background of that last picture? On school grounds is a very old train car. Thought Aden was going to have a cow when we saw it. Trey forbade him to get near, warning him of bees and wapses. Aden would probably have been willing to face the wapses for a closer look, but alas.

Man, if it wasn't trespassing I could get some amazing pictures of the boys on that thing. Grr.

This past weekend we went to a park that boasted several playgrounds. Perfect weather, beautiful surroundings, happy hearts abounding. Soak it in - these days are few and far between!

Oh, I love these boys.
