Snippets from the clutter
Our minds and lives are cluttered right now, and while it's been at the back of my mind that I need to update the blog, there has just not been a consistent theme to write about.
So here are some life snippets.
Trey is doing pretty well with the potty, especially if he's going "nekkid bottom". Pull-ups are less reliable, but much better than diapers. The poor kid is scared to death of public restrooms and of going #2 in the potty. And he adamantly refuses to wear big-kid underpants for me. Oh well, we're slowly getting there.
All the plants in our garden, including Trey's carrots, are growing beautifully. Except the cucumbers. This is our third year of not being able to grow cukes, and we have no idea what the problem is. I'm afraid it may be time for Brandon to undergo an "angry planting" (lay out a row and just chuck as many seeds in there as you can).
Brandon has been teaching himself to play the guitar, and he's really quite good for never having a lesson. Trey has fallen in love with Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive", and the two of them sing it together with the guitar at least once a day. I'm hoping we can get a good video of it for the blog.
A few weeks ago I mentioned to some of my friends that I was a CVSer, and could get lots of toiletries for free and packs of diapers for $5 or less. They all wanted to hear about it, so we have scheduled a brunch for this weekend, for me to share my secrets. Kelly, your legacy continues. You taught me everything I know.
I hit a deer on the way to church Sunday. Did very little damage to the car, just a few dings. But another thing to add to the list of car woes. Check engine light on, airbag light on, driver's side door won't lock half the time, driver's side sunvisor broken so it just hangs down all the time... Bleh.
If I didn't remember how hard it is to take care of a newborn, I might say I'm miserable with the pregnancy. Though I have gained much less weight than I did with Trey, I'm still big. And being big just plain hurts. Baby's movements are extremely strong, morphing my belly into strange shapes. Can't sleep well, as there is absolutely no comfortable position. It's hard to sit in the floor and play with Trey. If I sit too long at work I can hardly stand up. Can't stay standing up for any length of time.
That being said, I do know this is easier than taking care of a baby. And much, much easier than taking care of a baby and a freakishly energetic preschooler. So Baby Dolphin, you just stay put. June 7. We'll come in and get you. Relax, you don't have to do anything. Until that time, if it's all the same to you, maybe take it easy on your Mama.
