Sports Camp part II, dad's point of view

My wife kind of jumped the gun on me with the sports camp blog below. It is always a thrill to be able to mix two of my passions, God and basketball. It was always a dream of mine to have a camp like this and when our church built the gym, I knew God wanted this to happen. We've been doing it for several years now and I almost believe that the adults have as much, if not more fun, than the kids. I never make much of an effort to recruit workers because the people that have been doing it for years continue to show up and mention how much they enjoy it. Sometimes it is difficult to see "results" when working with young children, but the important thing to remember is that God asks us to plant seeds ( 1 Corinthian 3:6) and He will do the rest.

It was a joy to have Trey show up for a short time at sports camp. He seems to enjoy sports so far, which is wonderful. He's happy with a ball of any type, golf, basketball, football, whiffle ball, beach ball....he likes them all. He also enjoys working on the putter with dad. I have the best ball return in the world. He loves to pick up the ball and throw it to me.

As he grows, he brings us/me more joy. Many times I look at him and wonder how God could have sacrificed his own son (John 3:16). I'm sure there were times when God looked at Jesus when He was 1 year old and smiled at the things He did....but He still loved me/you/us enough to allow Him to die 32 years later. Thank God for His love and grace, I will never understand it, but I will always be thankful for it.
