Updates
Sorry the blog has been silent for a week. Our little man is keeping us on our toes! Here's what we've been up to lately:
Chicken pox: We aren't sure that was the cause of Trey's rash - it's being recorded in his medical file as possible chicken pox. If it was, it was a very mild case. The rash did spread beyond his legs a bit, but it never seemed to bother him. All the bumps have pretty much faded now. Thanks for your prayers!
Separation anxiety: Trey's favorite person in the whole world is Mommy, and he lets everyone know it. The worst is at church, where we now leave him in the nursery through both Sunday School and service. The workers tell us he usually cries himself to sleep, then wakes up an hour later and cries some more. He is quite high maintenance for those blessed servants. And the look he gives me when I go pick him up is priceless. Something's gotta give!
Opposites: Trey has become fascinated with opposites lately. He spends quite a bit of time turning lights on and off, opening and shutting cabinet doors, and putting his nesting blocks inside and outside each other. It's so neat to watch him learn.
Walking: Slash running. Trey LOVES his newfound skill, and would rather walk around the house for an hour than to sit and play with any toy. He has fallen a few times but has gotten really good at catching himself. Still, we have to watch him. He is not afraid of going somewhere by himself, which lends itself to all sorts of trouble. As tiresome as waddling around after Trey can be, we are having so much fun!!
Eating: This kid is eating us out of house and home. Seriously, he has doubled his food intake over the last 2 or 3 weeks. And we are trying all sorts of new grownup foods - green beans, broccoli, carrots, mashed potatoes, apples, peaches, watermelon, deli meat, cereal, jelly toast, pancakes... And he really seems to enjoy eating.
The milk allergy is still alive and kicking, and at Trey's 12-month checkup, the doctor told us to keep him on a good amount of formula to make sure he's getting the calcium he needs. We are going to meet with an allergist sometime over the next couple of weeks, who will hopefully tell us where Trey can get his calcium and give me some ideas on cooking dairy-free. There is still a chance he will outgrow the allergy, and we are praying very hard that he will.
Photo session: Just before his birthday, I got inspired to yet again try and save money on those milestone portraits (we've only done portraits once in Trey's life). And though I'm sure these are not Sears quality, the Lord provided the lighting and gave this former photography-klutz a motherhood superpower of taking pretty good pictures! It helped that Trey was willing to sit still for five minutes also.
Etc: How cute is this boy??
Trey had his fourth haircut right before his birthday. For some reason it amazes people how fast his hair grows. And he looks so grown up after it's cut!
This is a skill developed last month. Trey loves to clap. He claps for himself after building a tower, claps when other people clap, claps when we say "Amen" after praying... It's the cutest thing. Grammy also taught him how to snap, but we don't have a video of that.
And lastly, a tribute to Whitney, who has perfected in Trey the vital skill of "stomp, stomp". Love you Aunt Whitney!
