Left-brained
Remember the preheat phenomenon?
In case you don't, a while back Trey would stand and watch the entire six-minute countdown whenever I preheated the oven.
That was a year ago. And quite amusing.
Just the tip of the iceberg, people.
While the oven preheat no longer excites Trey, he is still obsessed with time and numbers.
He is the official timekeeper in the house. Several times a day, he will check all the clocks and then announce the time to anyone within earshot.
Trey: Mama!! It's 2:47.
Mama: Thanks for telling me.
He resets all the clocks in the house at random. He likes playing with the stopwatch on Brandon's watch. When sports are on TV, he watches the clock. At Brandon's basketball game, he keeps a close eye on the scoreboard.
Because of all this clock-watching, Trey can count backwards from 60 with proficiency. He also understands that there are 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour. When it gets past :50, he knows how many minutes until the next hour comes.
I absolutely made his day the other day by creating a daily schedule of his activities. Granted, the day we actually follow this very idealistic regimen will be the same day I glance out the window to see airborne swine. All the same, Trey is positively delighted to see what time it is, then reference his schedule to see what he should be doing at the moment.

You thought I was exaggerating when I said obsessed, didn't you?
Lately I've been noticing that whenever we go into his room to get his jammies on and get ready for bed, he sets his clock to 7:49. (It's never 7:49, by the way.) Then after we do devotions, he comes back into his room, lays in his bed, and stares at the clock.
It occurred to me the other night that he sets his clock to 7:49 because he knows that gives us enough time to do devotions and for him to get back in his bed in time to watch the clock flip to 8:00.

Smart. Very smart. And yet, obsessed.
Numbers in general. So as of now, if he were to take a career survey, Trey is most likely to end up as a sports official, stock trader, statistician, or some kind of clock maker.
Only Trey. Sweet, lovable, amazing, and most definitely one of a kind.
