Randomness for a Monday
Thankful Week is going really well. The turkey on the wall is a hit! I'll post a picture when he has all his feathers.
Trey made up a game the other night. Brandon was away (basketball season has started), so the boys and I were sitting in the kitchen floor. Trey had a notebook and a crayon. For about a half hour, Trey went back and forth asking Aden and I what we were thankful for, and then "writing" the answers in his notebook.
I would provide answers for Aden, and Trey found this very funny, as Aden was thankful for things like burp cloths, diapers, and his duck tub.
Little did Trey know he was playing right into Mama's curriculum. Gotta love it when that happens.
We went for family pictures on Saturday. Lord, have mercy.
There's Brandon. Basketball season has started, and so he now works 12-15 hour days. Exhausted. Eyes showing it.
There's me, still carrying around baby weight. Bleh.
There's Trey, who, under bribes of Dr. Pepper and fruit snacks, spent the entire morning saying "cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese". That would have been great if he had found a middle ground between the overachiever, eyes-closed smile and the here-are-my-teeth, half-painful looking smile.
There's Aden, who will smile up a storm if he can see one of his family members, except that all of his family members are behind him. So he stares blankly at the huge white lights. And gets hungry, tired, and hot by the time it's his turn. So then we take his clothes off and try to get some cute naked-baby shots. Bless his heart, his precious rolls are even rollier on camera.
Thus is a memory made. Through the magic of photoshop I think we'll get a couple of decent pictures. As frustrating as the day was, we'll never have it back.
We had a meeting at church yesterday about the kids' Christmas program. Trey will be playing the part of a cow. In theory. This is the child who threw a fit and refused to wear his very minimalist Buzz Lightyear costume at his preschool Halloween party. So we'll see.
You can bet Mama will be praying over this one.
Trey has started to give Aden hugs. He'll nuzzle his head against Aden's belly and pat his shoulders. Aden is in seventh heaven to have this much attention from his big brother, as he smiles and squeals and pulls Trey's hair. Trey thinks this is hilarious.
They are so sweet together. Some days my heart could just burst wide open.
Our Christmas cards came in the mail last week. At least two radio stations switched to all Christmas music over the weekend. Aden's stocking will arrive in the mail by tomorrow. I will make a stop on my way home from work on Wednesday for a long holiday weekend and pick up two new ornaments for our tree. On Thursday we will gather with family and celebrate life, love, and blessings from our amazing God. On Friday we will decorate.
Yes, some days my heart could just burst wide open.
Praise, praise, praise the Lord. Happy Thanksgiving!
