Holy Week and Easter
What a week it has been. It was back to "normal" for us after the drama blitz, and it honestly took us the whole week to recover. Sleep, the house and other responsibilities, and Trey's routine had all taken a backseat for a while, and as much as we loved being part of the drama, it was nice to be home.
We did attempt to do Holy Week activities with Trey each day. And it was pretty neat. He did a good job of paying attention for short spans. Above all, we just wanted to make sure Trey knew that Jesus is what makes this time special. Not eggs or bunnies or what little candy he can have.
Here is how we celebrated Holy Week:
Monday: In reference to the Triumphal Entry, we cut leaves off one of our houseplants, waved them in the air, and shouted, "Hosanna! Jesus is king!" This was by far Trey's favorite of the activities, and we repeated it several times through the week.

Tuesday: In reference to the clearing of the temple, we did some much needed cleaning up. Trey was very eager to clean up his house "like Jesus cleaned HIS house!" As he gets older and is able to comprehend more, this cleanup will become more of an internal cleanup, ridding our hearts of what doesn't belong.

Wednesday: In reference to Judas' betrayal of Jesus, Trey counted out thirty pieces of silver (dimes).
Thursday: In reference to Maundy Thursday, we held our own version of the last supper.

Friday: For Good Friday, the plan was to build our own small cross. This didn't happen, though I can't remember why. But all through the day, we reviewed the story of Jesus dying on the cross. I know Trey doesn't know what it means that Jesus died on the cross, but he knows that Jesus did this "because He loves you soooo much!"
Saturday: We had no special family plan for the Saturday of sadness. I took Trey to the Easter egg hunt at church, and of course he had a great time.

Sunday: Easter Sunday was our day of celebration. This began with Trey's Easter basket in the morning. He may not have been sure about the real frisbee, but he was thrilled over the fruit snacks.

Church was great, with a packed house, incredible music and the most uplifting message of the year. What an incredible story we have as children of God to pass onto our own children. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is alive! In Trey's words, "The hole is empty! He is risen!"
After church we went to Giga and Poppop's for an Easter feast, and then took advantage of the beautiful weather for some playtime.

What a blessing this life is. Hope you had a great Easter also!
