Get used to it

Brandon and I have a lot to learn. He grew up as an only child, so two children in the same house will be new to him. And I grew up with one sister (love you Nene!!), and poor Dad was the only guy in the house (love you too Silly!!).

So together we face the new and slightly daunting task of raising two boys. And we are already learning...

Trey is not, shall we say, a tough guy. And it's not his fault. He has been coddled and spoiled by me and the grandparents. Which is something that has come back to bite us a little. Brandon is the only person Trey has any respect for right now.

But anyway, the kid is a little whiny. He doesn't like to wrestle AT ALL and cries when he doesn't get his way. He's got a lot to learn too.

We're starting to think that Baby Dolphin will be different. From what little we know of him right now, we believe he's not going to take any crap off anybody. Least of all Trey.

Whenever I hold Trey, my belly starts to move as Dolphin positions himself so he can kick the living heck out of whatever part of my belly Trey is up against. Guaranteed.

Brandon is trying to prepare me that they will fight, and I know they will. A lady at work told me the best way to discipline brothers is to lock them in a room together. Sounds like good advice to me.

Another thing that at least I'll have to get used to are the smells. Man smells. You know what I'm talking about. Bless their hearts, if they don't really put some effort into it, men can just stink. Not that women can't, but we are much more conscious of it.

Trey has been rather gassy lately. A few times I've had to leave the room.

On Friday night Trey walked into our room, stood right beside Brandon, let one rip, giggled, then ran out. Brandon laughed (because apparently bodily functions are hilarious, another new concept for me), and asked Trey why he had to do that right next to him.

I had to remind Brandon that was something that Brandon himself would have done (and has in the past), and that he better get used to it. Before long all three of them will be out to get each other.

And there I'll be, shaking my head, wearing a surgical mask, spraying my off-brand Oust, and wondering how long it would take to save up enough money to build myself a little cottage in the backyard.

I can see you now. Riding down the road with the three of them, and you sticking your head out of the window because of the gas coming from inside the car!!!!!
Love ya, Joyce

{smiles} Oh, the joys of boys. I am not sure I would know what to do with one, much less two. But I am sure they have their grest qualities, too :)

I love this post!! I'm learning so much already about boys already just with my one-year-old one. Brothers are going to be so much fun. And maybe just a little crazy. Abram used to do the same thing as Baby Dolphin, kick Ellie from the womb. It was uncanny.
