It comes in spurts

My financial savvy, that is. This is not a post to brag on money-saving. OK, it kind of is, but I'm bragging on God for convicting me to be more responsible with money and then equipping me with the tools and time to find good deals. This past week has been amazing money-wise.

On Monday Trey and I went to Once Upon a Child to get some much-needed spring clothes for him. We found the cutest things, and ended up getting 3 church outfits (one of them Baby Gap!) and several play shirts for $20.

Wednesday found me at CVS. I am relatively new to CVS-ing and have yet to figure out how people spend less than a dollar and get like 100 ECBs back. But I'm on a good, steady pace anyway. I got about $15 worth of stuff for $5 and got 8 ECBs back. Not too bad.

Friday was the week's Kroger trip. I have done as well as I could keeping to $75 a week this year. If we hadn't included diapers in that goal I think it would be more feasable.

Kroger has a great deal on right now where if you buy 10 of a long list of items you get $5 off. It took a lot of research, but I was able to find AMAZING coupons to go with those items. I almost fainted when looking at my receipt at the end - my total was $50.26 and my savings were $51.90.

Praise the Lord! This doesn't happen often, and it might be a while before it happens again. But I'll keep trying.

By the way, any of you master CVS-ers feel free to let me in on the secret. I've read the how-to articles, and I look for coupons to pair with ECB deals, but all I can seem to do is get back the same number of ECBs I spend each time.

Okay, I LOVE CVSing, so I am so excited that you are getting into such a fun way to get things for free and save so much money!! I assume you know the basics, so here are a few things to look for:

Look for things that after coupons you will receive MORE ECBs than you actually spent. Even if you don't use these items, you can always donate them!! For example:

Tomorrow, Dry Idea deodorant is $2.99, get back 2 ECBs. On www.coupons.com there is a $2 off Dry idea deodorant coupon. You can print 2 per computer. If you max out that deal and get 3 of them with 3 coupons, you walk out with 3 deodorants and 3 MORE Ecbs than you even started with.

Another thing to look for: Money off Money coupons...like 3 off 15 or 5 off a $30 purchase. You can get these in your emails from time to time if you sign up at CVS with your EC card. You can also find (legit) ones online.

Always look for coupons to match up with the items that are 'free' after EBCs!! That is a great way to add up your ECBs in a hurry!!

Check out the websites listed on my blog...some of those ladies are CVS queens, and they do a lot of scenarios and coupon matchups. A lot of times they do all the work for you :)

Happy CVSing!! I am so excited that you are into getting the CVS deals!

BTW, check out the $5 and $3 off huggies coupons on www.coupons.com. Remember you can print each twice!!

Kelly said it all! I've been CVSing for over a year now and sometimes I still can't get ahead in ECB's. I was at an all-time low 4ECB's during my first trimester and I let my 19 ECB's almost expire so I just spent them and had to start all over! I just had to get 1 or 2 of the freebies everyweek with a coupon to start getting them back. I now have about 14.

Another tip is to do multiple transactions so you don't have to spend as much. Map it out according to your ECB's that you have on hand.

I always check out moneysavingmom on Sat. nights or sundays to see what she says the best deals are and she can tell you if there are any coupon match-ups.

Way to go at Once Upon a Child! I LOVE that store. And on your grocery trip. It does add a bit of a challenge when you have to add diapers into the budget but it looks like your doing GREAT!
