God is moving

For the last two years or so, I have been part of a team at my church that has been planning our community's first ever Easter pageant, a full-scale drama/musical about the life of Christ. Planning the pageant has been an interesting experience, as very few of us have had any exposure in the area of theatrics, at least on this level. And we have done/are doing everything ourselves, with around 200 people involved in every possible area. It has been a learning experience. Quite challenging at times, extremely time-consuming, but totally worth it.

We scheduled our performances for the evenings of April 2-5. Tickets became available at the beginning of this month, and we had 300 tickets for each night. The first week or two, we might have given out 20. And our prayers quickly turned from "Lord, please help us get everything done" to "Lord, please bring people to see your story". We desperately needed God's approval over what we were doing.

Ask and it shall be given unto you, right? As of last Friday, all of the tickets for the evening shows were gone. This past Sunday we made the decision to add two matinee shows on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday, the last of those 600 tickets was taken, and we have gone to a waiting list. When God moves, He moves.

Every time I have gotten a call saying a show was full, it has brought me to tears. God answered our prayers in a huge way. And though there is still so much to do between now and next Thursday, our exhaustion doesn't matter anymore. We know God wants the pageant to happen, and He will provide everything we need, from materials to time to energy, to see it through. And every last one of us can't wait to sit back and watch what He will do.

God's promise for answered prayer is in the Bible. I quote it often. I shouldn't be amazed that our prayers were answered. But God is amazing.
