Three

He's three.
Three years ago today
the world was taken by storm.
And none of us,
I mean none of us,
has ever been the same.
Oh, my Aden Levi.

Daredevil,
making my heart skip beats
with every bicycle ride,
every flying leap off the beds.
And beaming like a firefly
with every victory.

Social butterfly,
never met a stranger and asking
what's wrong with anyone
who doesn't return your hello.
The world could learn a lot.

Nonstop,
waking each morning with gusto
wondering what you will discover,
eager to face such a fascinating life.
Not just facing life head-on,
but with a full-force billy goat head-butt
that lasts all stinkin day.

Strong,
able to move furniture with ease,
never fussing over boo-boos, and
taking daily head injuries like a man.
Taking your shirt off
and flexing for your Mama.
Stud muffin.

Compassionate,
concerned over the hurts of others,
not the least of whom is your own brother.
Sticking up for him
and sticking by him
when his going gets rough.

You love to laugh
sing
dance
pray
hear stories
see trains
tumble
swing
pretend
jump
eat
see pictures
pet doggies
torture your brother
rassle your Daddy
snuggle your Mama.

He got a smile that it seems to me
reminds me of childhood memories
where everything was as fresh
as the bright blue sky

2011

Now and then when I see his face
it takes me away to that special place
and if I stay too long
I'll probably break down and cry

2012

Oh, sweet child of mine

He got eyes of the bluest skies
and if they thought of rain
I'd hate to look into those eyes
and see an ounce of pain

2013

His hair reminds me of a warm safe place
where as a child I'd lie
and pray for the thunder and the rain
to quietly pass me by

Oh, sweet child of mine
Oh, sweet love of mine

Happy birthday, Aden. We love you all over.

Happy Birthday Aden! I can't believe you are three! As he gets bigger, he is looking like his brother. But, he still reminds me so much of his momma.
Nice touch quoting G&R.
