Two years
Two years ago today, our family grew. In the best way possible.

Aden. Sweet, sweet Aden Levi.
His vocabulary is exploding. He enjoys repeating words after us, and having us repeat what he says, to be sure we understand. We hold conversations. He can now request something without having to point, which is especially nice.
He has learned the sequence of numbers to ten, but doesn't actually count yet. And he knows a sparse few letters. We'll get there.
Leaps off the couch, climbs on anything even barely climbable, falls a million times a day, runs pretty much everywhere he goes.
Sucks his left thumb, most often with a monkey clutched tightly in his right arm. Left thumb has some serious eczema going on, and we can't treat it because of the sucking.
Typically naps 2-3 hours in the afternoon, goes to bed between 8 and 9, and gets up by 7. Will not be rocked to sleep. Sleeps with his monkey and monkey blanket.
Eats. Period. Around 5 times a day, with three major meals and then tide-over snacks. Not too keen on meat or steamed veggies. Otherwise, whatever is provided is eagerly accepted.
Gets called by his nickname "Holiness" by his Daddy during family devotions. This would be because Aden refuses to pray by himself with everyone listening, opting instead to pray multiple times, out loud, while someone else is praying out loud. Pentecostal Holiness.
Tries to read the Bible, except that he hasn't really caught onto reading aloud to himself, and so just ends up turning pages.
Remains obsessed with vehicles. Points out every "beeg guck" (big truck), "goo busch" (school bus), and "datoo" (tractor) as we travel along the road. Begs for a "too too" (train) whenever we pass by train tracks. Strains to see every "eh pay" (airplane) and "geek-you" (motorcycle, for whatever reason), and promptly declares that each one is driven by his Poppop. Plays frequently and intensely with every wheeled toy in our house.
Enjoys singing along with us, and is slowly but surely learning the songs on his Daddy's big hair playlist.
The bounce dance move has expanded slightly to include a little pivot action. Then occasionally he'll just jump or run around wildly.
Thinks his funny laugh, sort of like hehehehehehe very fast and low, is hilarious. Thinks his Daddy is hilarious, his brother is amusing, and his Mama is, well, the source of meals.

Is compelled to touch everything, try everything, test everything out. To a fault. It's incredibly frustrating and just speaks to his unquenchable spirit and acute curiosity. It is a totally normal day for me not to be able to keep up with his fiddling - by the time I have fixed the last mess he made, he is already into something else.
Loves being naked.
Is doing very well with the potty. Nothing consistent, and definiely no #2 yet, but he remains interested.
Loves playing outside. Spends approximately 30 seconds on an activity, and then he's off to something else. Finally conquered his fears and rode the lawnmower and tractor.
Is shy at first but is fairly quick to warm up. Enjoys playing with older kids, more than those of his own age.
Belly buttons fascinate him.
Has some seriously impressive calf muscles. Daddy calls this "explosion". Yes, that is a good word for Aden.
Snuggles with his Mama like nobody's business. Gives the warmest bear hugs and accepts kisses on his forehead. And zurbets on his big baby belly.
Aden Levi, happy birthday cutie pie. Can't believe you are two years old. What a precious gift God gave us in you. I will never forget the day you were born. From the moment they laid you beside me, I have been astounded at how the Lord just multiplied the love in my heart and set me free. You fit right into this family, and we are excited to watch you grow and learn. Just slow down a little, would you? Love you so much sweet man.
