Treat bag ideas

So, creative peeps. Need a little inspiration.

Trey's preschool Halloween party is coming up, and each family is supposed to supply a treat bag for each child. And, as seems to be the case with many other things of life, my mind is stuck.

Last year I bought plastic pumpkin baggies at Walmart, and we stuffed them with Oreos, raisins, and Veggie Tales gummies.

Part of me wants to not do food/candy this year, as I'm kind of disillusioned with the whole gluttony aspect of the holiday. This probably stems from the sticker shock of how stinkin much it's going to cost to buy 1,000 pieces of candy to hand out at Trunk or Treat, half of which will go to teenagers who put on mascara and carry around a smelly pillowcase just to get a freebie from an easy target.

Grr.

Yes, I know I should be praying for their salvation. And I don't hate Halloween. Really. I'm super pumped about the boys' costumes for this year. I'm just totally not fond of the indulgence factor.

Anyway, I'm open to non-food ideas. If it is food, it should probably be milk-free, so at least Trey could keep one of his goodie bags. Would also like to keep it to a low cost (see above). Not at all opposed to homemade, as long as making 18 of them in about a week's time is doable.

So? What do you think? Moms, what would you want your kids to get in a treat bag?

Stickers. Or fake tattoos. But I think you should put some candy in there too. But maybe just a little, like a pack of Smarties or something. Otherwise you're the mom that didn't give any candy. :)

How about Playdoh - I've seen it in large bags of little containers. Little bouncy balls, spinning tops, always a hit.
