Stats, a monkey bash, and a curve ball

So an update on one-year-old Aden:

He is back on the charts for growth. Not only back on the charts, but to the 50-75 percentile! Hooray for walking! As of last Monday, Aden weighs 24 pounds and is 30 inches tall.

Walking is going very well, by the way. He's a bit wobbly at the start of the day and the end of the day, but who isn't?? Got the pivot down, can cruise right over changing floor textures with ease, and has even been trying to run a little. Slow down, sweet Aden!

Has his own names for most folks, several "words", and one word. Any guesses as to what Chunky Monkey's first actual word is??

naNAna (translated: banana)

Yes, and we are none too surprised, as this kid eats one or two bananas every day. Plus a lot of other stuff. And sometimes some of Trey's stuff too.

Loves being outside, and does not want to be excluded from anything Trey might be doing. Swimming, running, playing in the dirt, riding the slide or swings or tricycle. Cries when it's time to go inside.

Tough as nails. If Brandon starts rasslin Trey, Aden makes a beeline for them, arms outstretched.

Sings with the guitar. And the piano. And sometimes a capella, at the top of his lungs.

As he's slimming down, his nickname may need to change from Chunky Monkey to Taz. As in, Tazmanian Devil. People, I'm serious here. Aden will take a stack of something, throw it to the floor, crack up laughing, and then look for something else to scatter. He goes from room to room and just destroys every one.

Been trying to teach him that cleaning up is fun too. He doesn't seem to agree.

Does not obey well. We are none too surprised at this, either.

Anyway, it's amazing to watch him grow and learn. Everything is happening so fast. Who can believe this boy is one??

Speaking of, we held a birthday party for Aden this past weekend. Precious family all around, to witness Aden's first real swim in the lake, first real gift opening experience, and first cake.

(Thanks for the pic, Nene!!)

Had to save Aden's cake pictures for last. Herein lies the curve ball.

Cake refused. No messy face pictures. The boy who eats everything pushed away a plate of his own birthday cake.

He needed a nap. And, later in the day he did eat some cake, and we learned that he's not a huge fan of icing.

Overall, though, a great first birthday for Mr. Aden!
