Trey wrote his first word, "DOT". Dot is the preschool mascot, a pound puppy, who got to come home with us for a few days. Trey was so proud of himself.

Aden has started sticking his tongue out, just slightly, sometimes when he smiles. As if he needed to get any cuter.

Brandon's basketball team is off to its best start in a long, long time. We are really enjoying the games. January is going to be killer though, with 10 games in a 20-day stretch.

Trey did so great as a cow during the children's Christmas play last weekend. He didn't moo, but he wore the costume and stood on stage in front of hundreds of people without having a meltdown.

Aden had his first taste of table food, a very mashed up banana. Loved. It. Something's gotta give. It is virtually impossible to fill this kid up.

Our dryer is broken. Poo. I've been eyeing those sleek stainless models for a few years now. But we're opting for repair rather than sleekness. I am not ashamed to say the main reason is that I don't want to have a washer and dryer that don't match. Please don't judge me. We are all fully aware of my OCD.

During Trey's bath Tuesday night, Brandon was teaching him to speak German. Except that Brandon doesn't speak actual German. His German is a long sequence of loogie-hocking. Trey is quite good at it.

It's been cold lately. On a particularly cold evening, Aden got to wear his new snowsuit. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? "I can't put my arms down!!"

(Hee hee. "You'll put your arms down when you get to school." LOVE that movie.)

My kitchen is bright, bright, bright yellow (see background of below photo). I love bright colors. Every room in our house is a different color. Anyway, the yellow is really starting to wear on me. Sensory overload. I'm hoping that this summer when we paint Trey's room for its big-boy makeover, we can maybe paint the kitchen too. Something soothing.

Aden has gone to dancing. It's a lot like jumping, since that's about all he can do right now. But he loves for us to hold him up so he can pound his feet on the floor. Trey will dance with him, and together they cackle and jump.

The brothers are starting to act like brothers. It's so great.

OK. The nativity natural disasters playing has gotten out of hand. Trey has lost a camel, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. Oh me. Brandon and I have decided we'll either find them next July or when we're cleaning out the kids' rooms for them to go to college.

Aden is into some of the clothes Trey wore for his first spring. I fear we will soon be out of season for hand-me-downs. Drat.

Trey has been acting a lot like his Mama lately. Refusing to try new foods to the point of preferring punishment. Sobbing in devastation when he traces outside the lines while practicing writing. Not playing with his friends. Et cetera. This is very frustrating. A heaping spoonful of your own medicine tastes bitter going down. Bitter, I tell you.

Giga calls naked Aden "the puddle". This is not referring to any liquid that may shoot out of Aden. This is referring to Aden himself, and his rippling rolls. Oh my goodness, he is so delicious.

We introduced Trey to the concept of Santa Claus this year. Introduced it as a fun story, not as a truth. He was only mildly interested. Knowing Trey, the first time he ever sees someone in person dressed as Santa, he will be terrified.

At my office Christmas lunch, we played some Wii games. I've played Wii only once before in my life, and of course stunk it up since the balance board requires, well, balance. (Might have done better if I was holding both the kids.) Anyhoo, I believe I could get addicted to that game where you're dressed like a chicken and have to fly to the ship. So stupid, and yet so much fun!

We have planned a family night. For the four of us. Not at a basketball game. Written on the calendar in ink. I'm pumped.

It's snowing right now. Bad news: Trey's preschool Christmas party, with its Christmas song sing-a-long and cupcake decorating fun, has been cancelled. Good news: Both Brandon and I are off today, Aden gets to see his first snow, and we get to go out and play in it!! Pics to come...

Christmastime. Good stuff.
