The girls

On Sunday I had the privelege of hosting a mini-reunion of my very best girls from high school. It was so great to see everyone, and in some cases to meet each other's kids for the first time!

The kids enjoyed playing together, while the moms got to catch up. It was just a fabulous day, full of memories and laughs and loving on the little ones. Sarah showed off her beautiful baby belly. Laura tried to keep her sweet Savannah from eating leaves. Kelly impressed us all by being super-mom to angels Cana, Kayil, and Karis. And Trey, bless his heart, held down the fort as the only boy.

Kayil showing everyone how to fly on the swings.

Precious Savannah, wondering which leaf would taste best.

Little Karis was asleep for these pictures. Amazing how all of the kids sat still at one time!

Reminiscing

This was too great to leave out

In our heyday, we four girls were very close, almost inseparable. We were together not just in high school, but at church as well. With each other through everything, good and bad. The way friends are supposed to be.

As high school neared its end, we grew apart a little, each becoming our own person. Went our separate ways for college, and that was about it. Sure, we tried to keep in touch, but we all know how that goes. These were the days before blogs and Facebook. We did come together on occasion for the big stuff - bridal showers, weddings, then baby showers.

But there's not been a day like this in a long time. It was great, just to pick right up where we left off. Granted, the conversation was different. Last time we were all in the same room, I don't think we talked much about nursing, teething, and tantrums. That's OK though. True friendship grows with you, and has no expiration date.

Lovely ladies, let's not wait another 10 years to get together again. Thanks for making the trip. Love you all!

Here we are on senior day, 1999. Girls, I know it's a little depressing, but I couldn't resist. Special prize for who can tell me why Kelly isn't smiling...

Now here we are, a few years, a few kids, and (at least in my case) a few pounds later.

Wow, Ash, that was just about the most perfect blog. I couldn't love the flashback to senior day more. I really didn't think we had changed all that much in the last ten years...but, well, we have. Just wanted to say thanks for posting that. And we'll definitely have to not so much time pass before the next gathering. (BTW, love that you included Savy's leaf eating habit.) Love ya!

Love this post!! I just saw it for the first time today. For some reason, your blogs aren't updating on my blog roll...so anyways. Great post!! I too, loved the 1999 flashback!! Man we all look so young, and different. It's crazy, cause you don't think that you have changed so much until you compare pictures.
So, I am curious as to why I wasn't smiling, and also to why you remember that. I imagine it was some sort of guy issue? I don't know...Please tell! Now I am curious!

Looks like such a fun day! I think you all look great, in my opinion 10 years has made an improvement.
