Trey facts

- Trey has gotten pretty good with using the potty. Depending on the day, he'll even tell us when he needs to go. We haven't really gotten serious with it yet. Still not really sure where to go from here.

Our biggest challenge at this point is that Trey really likes to watch the pee come out. This probably has something to do with the potty seat we have, but sometimes when he arches his back to watch, if we're not quick to point the "fire hose" (as Brandon calls it) down into the potty, we get squirted. Oh well, not like that hasn't happened before.

- One of Trey's new favorite activities is sitting in the driver's seat of a car (not turned on) and playing with the keys and buttons, and pretending to drive. This can entertain him for a loooong time.

He also likes to take flying leaps off the landing from the stairs coming down to the basement, diving sometimes head-first onto a pile of pillows. Sometimes he scares me. I've not been around little boys before, so this is new.

- Trey wants almost constant attention. If we are not paying attention to him, he'll grab our hand and pull, saying, "Come on, Mama/Daddy, wess go!" (Let's go) Then as he leads us away, he'll watch our feet to make sure we don't veer off in another direction. If we do, guaranteed tantrum.

- Trey is really starting to pretend now. Doggie and Quackers will occasionally need to go potty. He uses his toy screwdriver to work on pretty much anything he sees. He'll jabber away on our old cell phone. And if I'm cooking, Trey will grab a container from his cabinet and set it on the counter. "Fix dinner. I make go-goggie." (Spaghetti)

- Trey's summer with Daddy is winding down. Brandon goes back to school on Monday. The guys have really enjoyed their time together, playing outside, working in the garden, riding the tractor. They are two of a kind.

Awe, sad that Son/Daddy summer is about over. I bet they have had a great time! I can't imagine how fun it is to potty train a toddler with a 'fire hose'. Girls are hard enough, and their pee goes straight down ;)

Potty Time! I received some pretty good advice many years ago. "You can start at 2 and work on the potty thing for a year, or you can wait until they are 3 and be done in a few weeks." Of course, each kid is different, but in my experience with boys...it's pretty much the truth! :)
