Simple Savings

I used to do my grocery shopping at Food Lion. It was nice - they ran about the same deals as Kroger, I knew the people that worked there, they had a good supply of everything I needed, the store was smaller and I could get around in it blindfolded.

Yet alas, I was enticed away by our new, flashly, gigantic Kroger store, offering double coupons and plus-card discounts on gas. We have done fairly well with this, aside from my extreme frustration over the fact that, as soon as I learned my way around the store enough to make a well-ordered list, they remodeled and moved everything.

Anyway, I still check the Food Lion ads and will occasionally pop in to snag a great deal. The register coupons that print when you check out have changed over the last couple of weeks, to a new program called Simple Savings. I am a big fan.

I've been in Food Lion twice in two weeks to get some super-cheap hot dogs and diapers. In those two trips, I received register coupons for a free 5-lb bag of sugar, free paper towels, and two free loaves of bread. Free.

Are they trying to win me back? Is this a short-lived stunt to see if my loyalty to Kroger is as "strong" as it was to them? I don't know - I don't think I can draw myself away from double coupons and gas discounts, especially since gas is now more expensive than milk.

But it is so nice with the way things are right now that a store would be so kind to its customers, even a traitor like me.

OOH! By the way, I just baaaarely got in on the hidden Pampers ECB deal at CVS, and was able to get 3 packs on sale plus 15 ECBs! Woo hoo!

Nice Ashley!! Maybe I should check out Food Lion?

Way to go with the ECBs on the Pampers! I got mine yesterday...after I convinced the workers that it was legit (I took the printed CVS.com page in and everything!)

"Well-ordered list"?
Do you organize yours by section/department/ aisle, too?! Because I definitely do that and get made fun of all the time... ):
