Catching up

For whatever reason we've had a hectic week. Here's some of what has been going on with us:

- The garden is planted. Well, at least part of it is. As we are able to use Granddad's new tractor, Brandon expanded the garden area some, and we are hoping and praying the crop will be better this year than the last two years. Keep that rain coming, Lord!

- With my mom out of town on business, Trey's weekly Grammy-day was a Papa-day! This was my dad's first overnight and all day alone time with Trey, and they had a blast together doing all sorts of man things that aren't usually part of Trey's routine. (I haven't heard, but I figure Dr. Pepper was involved at some point.)

- Potty training has officially begun. I still have yet to read the first thing about it, so I honestly have no clue what I'm doing. Tuesday was the big day. After breakfast we went into the bathroom, took Trey's pants and diaper off, and I set him on his potty. He hates to sit still, so it was a bit of a struggle. I tried to keep the mood light by happily explaining what we were doing, and then after several minutes of that just talking about random things and trying to make him laugh. We even made up a song about the potty.

It took about 20 minutes, but...success! Then there were squeals and happy dances and a basketball sticker on the wall. This scene was repeated three more times on Tuesday. He has yet to tell me he wants to use the potty - I just told him it was time to sit on the potty and each time we stayed there for a while.

So not really knowing what to do next, we'll just continue down this path, learning as we go. But yay!

- Trey said "I love you." To me. He has been saying it to other people for a few weeks now, and I finally got mine!! I said it to him one night while putting his jammies on, and he said it back. Of course I went nuts on hearing it, and apparently that amused him, so he just repeated it over and over and over. Beautiful sound.

- CVS-ing is going better and better for me. I can't remember how long it's been since I've had to get toiletries at the grocery store. And I'm consistently keeping about 15 ECBs and paying less than $5 per trip. Not perfect yet, but getting there!!

So that's it for now. We've been too busy playing to take many pictures, but should have some more to post soon.

That is a GREAT track record for your CVS trips. Way to go. And don't worry too much about not reading much about potty training. I didn't do much research either and my kids did alright=) Hope it goes smoothly!
