This little piggy

Before Trey came along, I don't remember life being boring. But now as I look back, I wonder, what in the world did we do with all that time?? Having a kid is hands down the most entertaining thing ever.

Trey has really come out of his shell just today with speaking in sentences. Throughout the day Brandon and I found ourselves actually participating in back-and-forth conversation with Trey, and it was so neat. Hence the title of this blog and the food journal to follow, a majority of the sentences were food-related.

We packed breakfast for a meal on the road during the long, early trip to the doctor. The last 45 minutes of the journey, pretty much all we heard out of Trey was "Daddy, paypay!" (pancake). He ate two regular-sized pancakes, drank a cup of soymilk and who knows how many cups of "apa doot" (apple juice).

While at the doctor's office, we found out that Trey now weighs 27 pounds. That would be a gain of 2 pounds in the last 6 weeks. Add to that the fact that the day of the surgery and about 3 days after, he didn't eat much of anything.

Had lunch after we got home, and I served Trey his typical slice of turkey, bowl of green beans, and bowl of fruit. After finishing his slice of turkey, he proudly declared "mo kukey" (more turkey), and did so over and over as I coaxed him to eat his other food. He kept it up even after finishing, so I gave him another slice. He ate every bite.

Then a popsicle. More apa doot. More milk. Nap. Bowl of jello.

For dinner was homemade vegetable "doop" (soup), one of Trey's favorite foods. I always, always need a grilled cheese sandwich with soup. Trey calls the sandwich "tote" (toast) and usually reaches for it. So sad not to be able to give him cheese!! Anyway, I made him some actual toast to go with his soup tonight.

After a bowl of soup and two slices of toast: "Mo doop." Ate another full bowl. "Mo tote." Ate another slice. "Mo tote." Ate another slice. "Mo tote." At this I suggested animal crackers, which he ate several of.

By the way he talks you would think we're starving this kid.

The end of a very long dinner time.

Look at that belly! Whenever Trey eats a lot, his little belly pokes out like a volleyball under his shirt. I don't know if the shirt got too tight for him, but he walked around like this for a while tonight.

Haha.. if he's eating like this now - wait about 12 years and see how much your grocery bill is.
