Fifteen months

Though a few days early, thought we'd give a little 15-month update on the boy.

Moving around
Trey runs pretty much everywhere he goes, and he's gotten very good at balancing himself when turning a corner, stopping quickly, and handling surfaces that aren't completely level. When he does walk, he is usually focused on something and not watching where he's going. He's walked right into a few walls in the house. And now...we have a climber.

Here's another one with climbing - for some reason Trey started doing this funny face/noise every time he got on top of the stair.

Talking
It's hard to pick out and VERY sporadic, but I think we have some English happening. Maybe we're reading too much into it, but some of the things he says now sound like real words. Over the last few weeks Trey has said basketball ("ba-ga-ba"), thank you ("tee-koo"), and tick tock ("dee da" - this comes from a mantel clock at Brandon's parents' house), and all of these at appropriate times. How very exciting for him to be able to communicate with us. Here we are practicing tick tock.

Trey goes on a little gibberish rant in the middle of this one.

Affection
Trey has become quite attached to a couple of his stuffed animals. He wants to give them hugs and cuddle in the morning and usually right before nap time. And he's started giving kisses to different things, where he'll just touch his nose and lips to the object for a second. But not everything merits a kiss. Trey generally won't kiss people, and as you can see below, he'll only kiss his Tonka truck if the turn signal is on. Go figure...

Allergies
I'd like to ask those prayer warriors out there to start praying for Trey's trip to the allergist on December 2. We are not really sure what to pray for on the trip. Ultimately our prayer is that the Lord would remove the milk allergy, but for now I guess we're at least hoping that the allergy is not too severe. Poor kid - I made him a cheese-less pizza last night, which he didn't appreciate too much. He needs to know the joy of macaroni and cheese!!

That being said, I must say that we are so grateful to God that we live in a time where technology not only allows us to know about this allergy instead of wondering why he would be getting sick all the time, but also that we have the technology to have foods like soymilk and soy ice cream so that he can at least have some "normal" foods.

On another allergy note, we spend time outside several times a week and Trey is fine. The other night while outside at church, Trey's nose started running, his eyes swelled up, he started wheezing and got red blotches all over his skin. That has never happened before, and it was pretty scary. Baby Benadryl eventually helped, but I guess this is another question for the doctor/allergist.

Bible
Trey has a baby Bible on his bookshelf, and when we are playing together in his room, he will get the Bible off the shelf, hand it to me, and stand there until I read him something. This from a kid who has grown rather impatient with his books and never stays on one page long enough to read anything. The Word of God is amazing, that even a one-year-old is captivated just by hearing it.

Well, I guess that's about it for now. We go to the doctor on Monday for a checkup. I'll post more if there's any big news, but I doubt he's gained any weight. The kid eats like a horse and is skinny as a rail. He has such a great personality and can entertain us all day long. We're having a blast!
